The SR1800 is designed to be the easiest solar attic fan to maintain. In the following video, we are showing you how easy thermostat replacement is with our thermoball, which has been a standard since ~2015. We recommend checking the unit first by bridging the connector <CLICK HERE> before replacing the thermoball. For those who prefer written instructions, we’ve included a written guide below.
Thermostat Replacement for Your SR1800 or SolaVent Solar Attic Fan
Step 1: Locate the thermostat. It’s hanging from the underside of the fan and has a ball shaped outer casing. If your thermostat is still taped to the fan, make sure to untape it so that the thermostat can hang down into your attic. Also, ensure that the thermostat isn’t caught in the fan blades. Your fan isn’t going to work if the blades are obstructed. Also, notice the connecting wires are matching colors. This will be important for our second step.
Step 2: Disconnect the thermostat. Again, take notice of the color of the wires. It is always going to be similar colors connecting. Grab the terminals from each end and give a gentle tug. There should be some give as demonstrated in the video above, although this one was a little tighter, but it should come right out.
Step 3: Grab your new thermostat and you’re going to attach the similar colored wires as we previously talked about, blue to blue and red to red. Connect the terminals together with a firm push. You don’t have to force it in, but don’t be shy and ensure there’s proper contact.
Now, once there is a tight fit, you have successfully installed your new thermostat for your SolarRoyal SR1800 Solar Attic fan.
