The SR1800 is designed to be the easiest solar attic fan to maintain. The first step in troubleshoot problems with a solar attic fan that doesn’t work is always to  bridge the thermostat to verify if it is working or not.

Why do I need to bridge the thermostat?

Normally, this is not necessary. However, this procedure is an excellent way to ensure that the motor and the panel are properly functioning. If your SR1800 or SolaVent solar attic fan is not working and bridging the thermostat turns the fan on, this means that you have a bad thermostat and the rest of the fan is likely fine.

Steps for Bridging the Thermostat

Step 1: Disconnect the thermostat by pulling on each end of the terminals from the blue and red connecting wires.

Step 2: Now that the thermostat is disconnected, we can go ahead and bridge a connection to test the motor and the panel.

Step 3: Take the blue and the red wires and put the terminal ends back to back so that the curved portions are on the outside.

A small clip was provided with your SR 1800 attic fan but if you don’t have one, you can use a paper clip or a staple and it will work the same as the included bridging clip.

Step 4: Take your paper clip or bridging clip and insert it into the terminal ends of the blue and the red wires. This will bridge the thermostat so you know if your fan is working. If the test is successful and proves there are no panel or motor issues, you simply need to replace your thermostat or solar sensor Pro.

If you follow these steps you can easily make sure your thermoball is operating properly or not.  If you would like to download the document, please <CLICK-HERE> for the PDF version.
